In a Team System project there are two security policies under Area that currently are not available for an Iteration. I would like to have those same policies available for both Areas and Iterations. 1. Allow excel to open work items from different projects at once. its allowed to relate work items from different projects. but not open them in MS project or excel? it would be great to have this feature for release planning across projects. 2. Feature to open hierarchical query results in excel. It will help use excel reports in many more cases.

When you right-click in VS 2010 in Source Control Explorer and click "View History...", you only see comments. You have to double-click on the changeset to see files!!! Just integrate it into the view in a tree fashion.

When a set of TFS 2008 databases is imported as a new collection or a TFS 2010 collection is imported from another server there may be mutliple users (eg DomainA\Frank and DomainB\Frank) that refer to the same person. We should be able to merge these users similar to how users can be remapped to different domains or user names.

At the moment it is possible to quickly paste a screenshot into the attachments section of a work item using Ctrl + V. This gives the screenshot a default name of 'screenshot.png'. This is fine unless you want to add multiple screenshots, as you aren't able to change the name of the attachments and any subsequence screenshots are also given the same name.

With the current installation TFS installs several services on port 8080. There are however several network environments blocking basically all ports except port 80. TFS 'out of the box' does not work on these networks as VStudio is not able to connect to the TFS services on 8080. Especially port 8080 is often blocked to avoid usage of 'not supported' proxy servers. With that said, companies that do have proxy servers in place already use 8080. Also 'external' developers are bound to the 80/443 port for communicating with the development servers. My suggestion would be install TFS using only port 80 and make it easy to switch ports afterwards if you decide for instance to move to a secured 443 connection with server certificates.

Just like Outlook rich text field, allow a user to paste in an image directly into the work item field. Currently have to put in note to go a open up the attachment This image would alos have to appear properly in web access and in print outs.

It would be very useful to be able to search and entire project collection - or multiple collections - for a code snippet. I've done this before by exporting the code with a nightly schedule then indexing it into SharePoint. However, a more intelligent search mechanism would be better. Something that is code aware. Eg, search for all uses of a particular class - ignoring comments and designer files. This would make the code repository a much more useful knowledge base than just googling around for a code snippet as it would show how you have done things before.

Currently you can only search Shelvesets by username which is very restrictive for the following reasons: 1. Search by shelveset name. You have to add a shelveset name so why can't you ssearch by one? We use shelvesets for reviewing purposes and being able to search by name would be invaluable. 2. With the current search (ie by user name ) if you enter an incorrect name you get a TF14045 error. Enabling wildcard searches for this and potentially for point 1 above if implemented would be useful. Currently In a multi domained work environment we have users who have to search by both [username] (I am assuming this is first domain name added to TFS) and [domainname]/[username] (assuming this is subsequent domain names added). I would like to see searching for [username] would show all irrespective of domain.

Currently there are several reports and 3rd party apps that try to show a decent scrum task board, but my experience is that we cannot get the same overview as we can by using the good old whiteboard. Mostly its because of poor use of screen area. If you could create a scrum task board that can fit 10 pbis with their associated sbis and show their placement across 4 state columns and still keep their titles visible (aka large fonts) then morning scrums with be a breeze.

By "Create copy of Workitem' the relationship is per default is 'related' and basically everything (including related Changesets) is being copied to the new workitem. For compliance reasons i need to control what and how the workitem is being copied based on workitemtyp and which relationshiptype is used. For example: an changeset related to a workitem is a result for this specific workitem. We don't want this changeset result copied to a new workitem since it may not be a result for this workitem. Same goes for certain workitem attributes. We would like to have the possibility to customize the actions for the "create copy of workitem" functionality. At the moment we use an custom made tfs plugin for this matter.

Currently its a real pain to execute Silverlight unit test (from SL Toolkit) with a central build and get the results into the warehouse. A native support to run the unit tests and get all results into the TFS database would be very very helpful. As reporting would be made easier for native .NET + Silverlight from one place with the same set of tools/reports

Currently, if you have branched two branches into the same directory, and then you want to branch the parent directory, you need to change the two branches back to a folder (remove visualiation) and then you can proceed.

Today in order to create notifications, I have to create one per user under my user account. There is no way to create a rule for notifications, such as when a work item gets changed, notify the assigned to user, no matter who that user is. Today we have to create a rule like this for every user. And, this rule is not shared, so if another admin wants to tweak the rule, he can't because its under my account.
